INGREDIENTS:
- 1 cup ground pork with fat
- 1 cup fresh shrimps, peeled, deveined, and finely chopped
- 1 pc carrot, grated
- 1 pc red onion, minced
- 2 tsp garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup fresh spring onion, chopped
- 2 pcs shiitake mushrooms, dried, rehydrated, and minced
- 2 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1/2 tsp five-spice powder
- 1/2 tsp sugar
- 1 pc whole egg, beaten
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 pinch salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 pack firm tofu, sliced into triangles
- 3 tbsp cornstarch, for dredging, as needed
- 3 cups vegetable oil, for frying
PROCEDURE:
1. In a bowl, combine all Set A ingredients, and mix until well combined.
2. Preheat oil. Fry tofu triangles. Remove. Make an incision on tofu triangles. Stuff with ground pork and shrimp mixture. Dredge with cornstarch or all-purpose flour. Fry for 5 minutes or until golden brown. Remove. Drain off excess oil on paper towels.
